3 gigs in one night tomorrow
I have three performances tomorrow night... this has required a lot of logistical planning, each has to have its own sound system, two of which are already set up and ready to go. The first two gigs are part of the kickoff celebration for U. Va's Bicentennial Celebration. First I'll be playing a reception in one of the original pavilions on the Lawn. That's just a couple of small amps... The second is as part of the gala event on the Lawn itself, which will draw about 20,000 people. Everything is being projected onto a bunch of huge screens screens, including onto the Rotunda itself. Here's a photo from the rehearsal we had tonight. I'll be playing "Finding Home" on the Railboard through the StepABout and a reverb pedal, and I'll be followed by Leslie Odum from the Broadway show Hamilton... This event should be streamed of broadcast at a later date. I'll try to find out and post a link. Then it's of to Nelson County Virginia for a set at Festy with Darrell Rose... Rosewood Grand with full effects rig. Just me and three drummers... Then.. drive home and sleep....

Re: 3 gigs in one night tomorrow
So the first gig was a typical cocktail party schmoozefest. The perfect opportunity to practice holding a conversation with curious listeners and playing tunes at the same time... This is a good skill to have if you plan on playing this instrument in public The second was over very quickly, but quite exciting, and a real honor. I didn't dare look up att eh projections, but some friends sent me some photos, and I definitely picked the right shirt, solid color blue to set off the deep burgundy Railboard... An abbreviated version of "Finding Home", played at a rather loud volume, really filling up the huge quad, quite thrilling... The third was pure fun. Darrell Rose was on fire, and the humid, cool mountain air showed it, with clouds of steam rising from his head as he wailed on his djembes. The crowd loved it. We'll be back!

Talking while playing, this is really tough for me. I am just getting a handle on being able to play it, sadly I fear it might be a bit before I can keep two hands going doing their thing simultaneously and keep some sort of conversation going. Something else to work on... Sounds like a fun night, lots going on!

Awesome Greg, doing ONE gig is fun, but doing 3 in one night??? WOW! I'm glad they all went well, and you're going to pick up some gigs from them. Cheers!
