Refurbed Stick purchase.
Hello, Well I've ordered a Stick... Taken a year of research/listening/asking/pleading/saving up the cash but it's ordered. My hand was forced by events not directly under my control, namely Brexit. Yes am based in the UK. So ended up going for a 'refurbed' model s/n 882. Having said that had some excellent conversations with Cambria so am happy with my purchase... I do have a question about amps... I can run the Stick through my desk/soundcard but also want to be able to play it elsewhere so was thinking about a small practice amp. Any suggestions? Especially as it has a stereo 'y' cable. Well back to waiting for delivery... Cheers. C

The choice of an amp will depend a lot on your budget. Acoustic amps are nice because they tend to have two or more inputs and allow you to fine tune each channel. They can also handle the range of the Stick. Fishman and Marshall are two great brands, but if you are looking for a budget amp, these might be more than you want to spend.

Lotsa guys seem to like plugging into a portable PA system too... Also, systems like the Line6 Helix or the Boss GT-100 and the Zoom thingies are popular... Everybody is different!
Good luck, I can't wait to hear what you do!

Look into the MOD Duo. I know I sound like a sales guy for them... but my whole pedalboard is centered around it. http://www.moddevices.comThey closed the website for a couple days but they ship from Berlin. My new tagline for the DUO is "As individual as the Stick player" or something like that... Oh man... I really sound like a sales guy for them...

Re: Refurbed Stick purchase.
Another route to strongly consider: get a small mixer to combine the signals into one. That will expand your flexibility and your amp possibilities- enables you to plug into most any amp. No worrying about how many inputs an amp has.
Just make sure you've got decent impedance matching in your signal chains...some mixers have instrument inputs and can handle plugging direct into with a passive pickup (PASV4 or Stickup), but others don't which means plugging the Stick signal into something else first (DI box, e.g.). My mixer, for example, a Mackie 402VLZ4, has two instrument inputs (1M-ohm impedance) and sounds good with my PASV4 plugged straight in.
At any rate, as a Stickist, a mixer will be useful to you for years, whether you're using a bass amp you found for $50 on craigslist or a $2k Greenboy.

Re: Refurbed Stick purchase.
I am a big fan of the Behringer k900fx. This is a 3 channel keyboard amp but as Vic mentioned, you are going to have an impedance problem with a stickup. It has reverb, a simple EQ and is relatively inexpensive. I use this amp for practice and smaller gigs, very versatile and built like a tank.
A great application for a mixer (tip of hat to Vic again). I have a 8 channel Mackie mixer which sits right on my pedalboard. It's become an integral part of the sound, but also an integral part of MANAGING the sound. So much easier with a mixer, for me anyway.
Hopefully you can try some different amps out before you buy. Best of luck with the testing!

This is what I'm using: http://www.crateamps.com/products/pindex.php?prodID=37It works quite well, and since I bought it used it was very reasonably priced.

Re: Refurbed Stick purchase.
Hi,
Fairly new to Stick... I got my Railboard few weeks ago, yet I have 2 other tap instruments for 2 years now. As Gene, I have a Behringer keyboard amp (k1800fx) and I am very happy with. The multiple entries and the (nearly) full range do the job for Stick. And best of all... It is affordable!
