*** Now sold, STC. Thanks all for your interest ***

I'm reluctantly selling my Grand Stick #5826. It's a newer-style 36" scale instrument, made of bamboo with luminous linear inlays, black tuners and Villex PASV passive pickups. It has brand new strings (12 string "Classic" tuning), and the sale includes moulded SE flight case, the standard Stick Enterprises strap, truss adjustment wrench and Allen key, stereo to mono y-cable, a spare set of strings, and a copy of Emmet Chapman's Free Hands manual.

I'm looking for £1,400 which compared to the price of a new Stick (strong dollar/weak pound) is a bit of a bargain.

Sticks are particularly rare in the UK. This one is in lovely condition and has recently been restrung. The action probably needs a fettle (see the Stick Enterprises website for details of how to adjust the truss rod - it's not scary). If you have never played the Stick you should read up on what you are bidding on - the 36" scale, the tuning, instrument adjustment, the PASV stereo pickups, and the learning curve required (your guitar chops will not help you here!)

I really don't want to ship this for obvious reasons, so I'm looking for buyer to collect. I'm happy to deliver it within a 40 mile radius from Newbury for a small fee, but we can discuss this nearer the time.

You can see some photos on eBay, item #295213140716

Cheers,
Rob

Someone else got it. I'm too far away for personal collection to be a possibility, and that put me down the pecking order.

So, back to the long wait for a Grand (ordered Sept '21, latest estimate was 8-10 months still to wait). But hey, when it arrives it will be latest spec (including Stickups), freshly set up & I'll have had more time to gain experience with my 10 string(s). :D

You're in Scotland too, aren't you, David?

For that price I'd have trained/planed or automobiled it!

Ah well, hope you find one soon, they're well worth it.

FYI, mine came from Paris and cost me about £2300.

Cheers,
Nick

Yes. Skye.

Tempted, but I've not been beyond Kyle for 5 years and not beyond Inverness for nearly 20! ;)

It seems I was a bit too hasty with my post above. I wasn't going to mention it here till the Stick was in my hands, but since I'm writing anyway...

It turns out that Rob had changed the title to stem the flood of enquiries but hadn't had time to confirm that I was first in the queue. A little later he PM'd me to say it was mine if I wanted it. You can guess my answer. :)

Funds have been transferred and insured shipping has been arranged. It ought to have been picked up yesterday but because it's an oversize package (i.e. over 1.2m long) it had to be arranged over the phone & someone at the carrier forgot to press a button, so at 5pm yesterday I got an apologetic phone call from the carrier. All being well it should be on its way today.

Still finding it had to believe & trying not to count my Sticks before they're hatched. :D

Oh that's fantastic! - both about the Stick and about living on Skye... are you in a very remote part?

Of course, you'll have to venture a little further afield if we ever organise our Stick-Players-Of-Scotland "event" that we threatened a couple of years ago.

We had friends that lived in Elgol for a few years and then Uig for a few more. Skye is other-worldly-stunning and everyone should visit (although preferably off-season - last time we came that road up to Quiraing was a literal car-park for many miles.)

Congrats!
Nick

Fantastic indeed, and yes remote. As Winter turns to Spring you know the 'season' is starting when you meet more than a couple of cars on the 15 mile trip along the single track road between here & the nearest main road.

I'll PM shortly.

This Stick is now in its new home, tuned & checked out. :D

It will now rest for a while until the RMR strings I've just ordered from SE have time to arrive & be fitted.

Thanks again Rob for making this possible. :D
