SOLD UK: 1985 Ironwood 10 string #1642
Edit to add (2023-08-06): This Stick has now been sold.In December 2021 this Stick came up for sale here on Stickist and I was fortunate enough to be the buyer, giving me the opportunity to make a start on learning to play.
I'm not in any hurry to part with this beautiful Stick, but since I now have two other Sticks I feel it's time to offer someone else a chance with this one.
I'm asking exactly what I paid for it last December, i.e. 1200 GBP + shipping.
Based on recent experience, I think insured shipping within the UK would be less than 40 GPB? I'd not rule out shipping further afield.
The instrument is a 1985 Ironwood, unmodified except for a different set of bridge screws to allow fitting of the light Baritone Melody string set it currently has, an updated muting/damping strip, and a recent strap.
The original bridge screws are included in the sale, as are the set of Classic tuning strings I removed (high string melody is a D'Addario 008 as the original broke).
The original Stickup pickups seem fine to me (I've never seen or heard any others up close to compare them to, but neither have I detected or suspected any issues with these).
The tuners are smooth and have not shown any sign of slipping or other issues.
It has the original flight case. The foam is functional, but not pretty. I'd add extra padding for shipping & wrap the flight case.
It has the original twin fixed truss rods. Here in cool & damp North West Scotland, less than a mile from the sea in 3 compass points it has a very slight back bow. That doesn't stop me playing the instrument, it just limits how low the action can be taken. Maybe in a drier climate the back bow might reduce, but that's a pure guess? It is what it is and such things are just a fact of life with these Ironwoods, unless sent back to SE for a refurbish & adjustable truss rod.
I added 'C' marker stickers, and 3mm tape 'pseudo linear inlays'. If you don't like them, they are easy to remove.

I've tried to do my best to describe the Stick fairly and and to take fair images, all in good faith, but ultimately it is what it is & it's to be sold as is. Caveat Emptor, as they say.
If there's anything else you want to know, or more pictures, please ask.
