In a separate post, I learned that some issues I'm having with my Stickup volume knobs stem from the fact that I've got the two 1/4" plugs going into a splitter and into the one lone input channel on my bass amp. Greg suggested a DOD 240 (nice little 4-into-1 line mixer), but I haven't been able to find one at all, except for one place that wants to charge 2/3 of the mixer's cost to ship it.

Before Greg's suggestion, I was thinking about a Line 6 Sipder IV 30-watt guitar amp. I'm looking for opinions. (It'll sit on top of my bass amp which is an Ibanez Soundwave 80.)

What kind of tone are you looking for. I played a gig last night with a $100 melody side amp which has THE BEST jazz tone EVER for a stick MUCH better than any Fender or Koch or ANY Tube amp. You have to find them used though.

But if you want a clear bell sound it won't work.

Good point, Brett. I'm looking for something versatile. I would like to have something out of which I can get a nice clean, natural Stick sound, and then turn around and get a few good lead tones without having to use 5 different foot switches. (For now. LOL!)

One of the things that I find appealing about the Line 6 is that it has a half-dozen different sounds available, which of course I'll tweak a bit to suit my ear. I also have a couple of friends who have used Line 6 stuff (combo amps as well as Pods and foot switch arrays) and they've all had very good luck with them, and I've heard several clean and distorted presets that I like.

Kris, thank you; that looks fantastic, but it's out of budget and too big for my needs at this point. I'll definitely remember it as a contender for the future. Thanks again!

Hi there,

If you're still looking for a DOD 240, they come up on Ebay once in a while. About $30 if I recall (chances are that I don't). There are a few different versions but the only difference is in the case. The guts are all the same. The trick with them is to run each channel full out or as close as you can and use your instrument to regulate the balance and amp to regulate the volume. They pass a very clean signal when used this way. I got one long ago to use when playing my Stick mono.
