![Post Post](./styles/serenitydarkblue/imageset/icon_topic_latest.gif) One for the Zoom
Hi,
I came across this comment on Looper's Delight:
I can't hold back any longer.
My sweetie and I went to see Jethro Tull a couple of weeks ago, and I ended up chatting with the sound guy afterwards. Very pro stuff supplied by 8th Day Sound, Yamaha PM5D-RH mixer at FOH, flown line array, etc., etc., etc..
The soundie's big gripe? Ian Anderson was using an SM58 for vocals and a Beta 54 for flute, run into a tiny Behringer mixer which fed a pair of Zoom pedals for reverb and delay. That was returned to the mixer, and the output of THAT was sent to FOH.
In all, it sounded pretty good, except for Ian's voice dropping out when he moved at all off mic.

I've been really happy with my G2 / B2 pedals, and I've used most of the multi-effects in this series, including the G2..something with tubes in it. Having been an innovator in the late 80's, Zoom lost the plot for many years, but even some of their crappy gear sounded good or had some strangely unique functionality. The G2 range and the H2/H4 recorders really stand out as products that sound way better than their price tag suggests.
Cheers, Andy

I've had a new Z2 recorder for nearly two weeks now and it's shaping up to be an excellent purchase! It's a little awkward for things like track marking and cue/review of songs, but the recording options, compression/limiter capability and quality are all great. If you don't mind recording straight to mp3 format, you can fit a ridiculous amount on a 512M or 1Gb card, I'm not sure I'll ever bother getting a bigger card.
