Re-purposing old Stick strings: CAT TRAP
I've been playing around with mirrored and parallel fourths tunings and I had a few strings that I was changing out lying around. My Sound Engineer, Geo the Cat, found one string on the carpeted floor of the studio and wouldn't stop chasing it around, noisily and gustily. If I shut him out of the basement, he'll meow his head off at the top of the stairs. So just like you give an extra unplugged video controller to your 4-year old to keep them quiet, I put that string on a camera tripod and left the nut-end dangling (that sounds so dirty!), and thus, a cat-trap and cat toy both were created, and hours of instant fun for Geo the Cat and his human pets watching.

Re: Re-purposing old Stick strings: CAT TRAP
The cat-trap is still going strong. It's literally the best cat toy ever--that requires no effort on my part, anyway. Good old string (yarn) still works great. Geo got tired of the laser pointer a while ago. A Stick string apparently is better than a yarn string, which he eats and gets caught in his teeth.

When just one hot electronic device isn't enough, the full kitty stretch to get both is sometimes necessary. Don't mind the belly gap, says Geo--we can sleep just fine like this!
A tired kitty after chasing Stick strings all day... (I know the feeling!)
