That's odd. I've been active on Stickist for a bit over 6 months (since last September) & your today post is the closest I recall seeing to a 'complaint'.
Sure people (including me) would like to see their Sticks sooner, but each Stick is an individually crafted instrument, so most accept that process takes time, and along the way stuff happens to affect that time.

Some have been waiting for over 2 years for their instrument to be built
A year or more wait for a built-to-order Stick seems to have has been the experience of lots of people over many years. Given Emmett's illness plus complications totally out of SE's control (not least COVID), a recent stretch towards 2 years does not seem surprising? However, instruments _are_ now obviously being delivered again (i.e. getting mentioned here and popping up elsewhere - even being 'flipped' on Reverb!).
It's sad that the modified GK is no longer available, but none of us are getting any younger & (from what I heard) the guy doing the mod has retired (another thing outside the control of SE). A couple of years to work out an alternative doesn't seem at all surprising. It's not hard to imagine that working down the backlog of orders that don't involve MIDI is going to have priority over speculative development in that direction?

Odd. Each time I've sent a message to Jeff I've had a prompt response. Usually within 24hrs, & no longer than 48hrs.

Stick has gone so far down hill since Emmett became ill. I've read so many complaints about them now, that I'm sure they won't last much longer as a company.
I can understand the sentiment, and your frustration, but perhaps the word choice could show a little more discretion. Of course a small family owned and run business, in a niche market, utilizing non mass produced components, will have difficulties when the driving individual is in declining health.
The decades long story of Stick Enterprises is still being written.

That has been my experience. Whether it's inquiring into the status of my order (yes, close to 16 months now) or getting technical assistance with my current Stick, I've never had to wait more than a day for a response.

PS. I meant to add...
I wish you well with your search, and offer a thank you from those who were behind you in the queue for letting us all move an extra notch closer to our Sticks.

I'll second David's "thanks!"
Since this thread popped up again, I was looking more at the JamOrigin MIDI Guitar 2 product and they had this in their gallery. Thought y'all would enjoy this Stick player using it...

Thanks I'd not seen that example before.
PS. Hard to be certain on the small 'tablet' screen I'm using just now, but is that a MIDI equipped Stick anyway? I can see the extra damper on the melody side & there seem to be several leads coming from the Stick - not visible in the close view, but I think I can see them in the wider view?
It will be tomorrow before I can take a look on my desktop monitor.

That is Nima Rezai. And that is a MIDI equipped Stick yes although not in use here.
Thanks for that confirm & extra info Glenn.
Looking on my big screen I've now worked out what it is attached to the headstock too - a torch facing down along the fretboard! And, there's another at the bottom of the Stick facing up. Intersting idea.

Following up on that name I found this on Nima's own site, also done using the Jam Origin 'MIDI Guitar 2' software (the youtube page gives the kit list as: Chapman Stick SG12 Stick guitar using a Roland VG-99, Boss SY-300, Apple MainStage, and MIDI guitar).
