Free Hands Friday #58 - JAPHLET
Free Hands Friday #58 was a jam. Again, host Francisco Rafart lead a great discussion with guests Tom, Tomas, Edgar, Russell, Dan Chapman and guest Japhlet Bire Attias. Japhlet has moved around quite a bit, making music in the Twin Cities, Holland, Budapest and how in Mexico City where he currently calls home. He is involved in a number of projects, all of which can be see on this site. Tip of hat to Tom for being the admin on this session, he'll be our host for our next session with Cristian Larrondo! It was great to see the great respect Francisco had for Japhlet, citing his JBA album as the first Stick album he owned. Dan had echoed this same appreciation for this music, all of which I need to get caught up on! Check out some of Japhlet's offerings on Bandcamp here. Album costs range from free to about ~$10, not bad for excellent new music. Reminder - Free Hands Friday #59 will be with Cristian Larrondo with host Tom Diaz. We'll start at 11am PDT, hope you can join us. Happy Free Hands Friday

Re: Free Hands Friday #58 - JAPHLET
This episode is a multi-language version of Free Hands Friday with the Japhlet Bire Attias. For those Stickists who are Spanish-challenged (like me) we switch to English at 42:00 when I start asking questions.
Japhlet is super fluent in both languages. A very inspired and artistic Stickist for any who haven't heard his his very accomplished album. Japhlet talks about origins of his breakthrough album and other work, travel plans, coming to the states, his musical upbringing, Dad was artist/musician, his time in Budapest, Hungary, Transylvania, Romania.
How does his conception of art influence his music? Musical activism and musical motivation. "It makes us feel."
New projects, new perspective. "If I'm really happy, I won't write anything…"
What was first Stick music inspiration? Waiting Man and Neil & Jack and Me - King Crimson.
