Greg Howard’s masterpiece….. upon re listening today. I was reminded what a rare genius Greg was at long form improvisation. What he did is really difficult and amazingly wonderful. The techniques can be learned, but the execution of thematic development, dynamics, sound sculpture and melodic design was crazy good. I put this recording as essential for any stickist to learn from…. He was such an amazing artist.

Indeed Brett, Water on the Moon is a masterpiece, I listen to it quite often and am still surprised on how fluently the ideas are coming out of his heart.

Just in case that wasn't a joke, check out

https://greghoward.bandcamp.com/album/water-on-the-moon

and then try the 'Naked' version too

https://greghoward.bandcamp.com/album/water-on-the-moon-naked

The Naked version is the dry feed of that performance. So, it's exactly the same fingers on exactly the same instrument at exactly the same time, "offered for Stick players and the curious as a technique study. "

Personally I enjoy the Naked version as music too. For me both versions are supreme examples of Stick music & musicianship.
