I totally understand things change and I think it's cool that Emmett and team are always pushing forward
BUT from what I understand it was a sub-contract QC issue as opposed to a fundamentally unworkable technology

I certainly not as experienced as other people here, but I have had my hands on a railboard and the one thing that I found strange was the - for lack of a better word - grainy feel of the anodizing,I mean on the string-to-rail contact point

I also found the bass-scalloping felt string when bending into that zone. yeah, I know it's near the bass where a lot of people don't bend.

I guess it's a feel thing - doesn't Steve Adelson pref the old rods for feel?

it sort of reminds me of the tales of emmett using vaseline on the strings (sitarists sometimes use oil, sort of like fingerease b/c they are working almost entirely linearly but with superbends..meends) for a "liquid" feel.
I guess I can dig that. The lower string tension on the stick can really let you bend and slide and all those things.

I don't know, but the plasma deposition, as a technology, seems like a great idea
beyond just visuals that is

If it does, I will definitely go for a gunmetal Grand...

Actually I’m with Greg. When I was at SE a couple of years ago and I was checking out the gold ones, Emmett just said I should check a specific dusty stick laying on a table. I pick it up, blow the dust away and the most beautiful stick I have ever seen was in my hands. It was gunmetal...

I cannot comment on the plasma (beyond, I think that's the way I'd go as well. If it does find it's way back)

on the scalloping issue. I believe SE is equipped to do an unscalloped rail profile. they made one for a stickist that had his wooden stick stolen and used a custom tuning that wasn't compatible with the scallops, but I don't know if it's a regular offering.
drop them an email perhaps though

Yes, those are seriously cool. I'm on the fence between gunmetal and chrome. Currently, an easy choice as both alternatives are non-existent. :-)
