Anybody here using a keyboard amp for the Stick? Just wondering if it could work.

Tyler uses a Leslie LS2215, it sounds amazing.

I don't know much but I think I heard full range amps work best but don't quote me

Re: Keyboard amp for the Stick
I've been using one to practice for a long time. It's an old Roland that I got for free.

Re: Keyboard amp for the Stick
I enjoyed using a Behringer k900fx for smaller venues and practice. Onboard (master) EQ, 3 channels and discrete effect level control were some of the factors that were enticing. Keep in mind I was using ACTV-2 pickups, so the response will be considerably different if running a Stcikup or PASV-4 directly in. The amp that Tyler is using has some nice features, namely, the option for active and passive pickups on the first channel. This amp has 3 channels as well, all of which can take a 1/4 in. Also independent effect loops if that's a requirement.

Re: Keyboard amp for the Stick
Thanks Gene, good call on those amp specs. I want to add that Tyler has some sort of pre-amp on both his treble and bass side chains and runs directly into the channels I believe.
I don't know off the top of my head what his pre-amps are, but I'm pretty sure the treble side is a tubed guitar pre-amp and the bass side is a tubeless bass pre-amp.

Re: Keyboard amp for the Stick
Hi,
This is my first time on Stickist so I hope this info helps.
Yes, you can use a keyboard amp. They have a flat response which suits the wide frequency range of the Stick and doesn't colour it's natural clean sound.
I have a Roland KC100 (60w 4 channel with 12" driver and tweeter) and the bigger (gig worthy) KC350 (120w 4 channel with 12" driver and tweeter - stereo line out). See Roland website for the full spec.
Many years ago I saw Guillermo Cides play in the UK and he used two KC350's for stereo imaging in his rig and they sounded great. Carrie Melbourne used to tour with one at around that time too.
Regards.

Re: Keyboard amp for the Stick
I use a Center Point Stereo Spacestation V3 paired with a subwoofer. There is a newer model that goes down to 50 Hz and has more power. http://aspenpittmandesigns.com/This system uses two speakers placed out of phase with each other for a stereo effect that can be heard around a (small) room. Note that you need to send this speaker a stereo source to hear the effect. I run my keyboards and Stick through a Line 6 Helix with independent processing for each side of the Stick and the keyboards and it sounds great. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Re: Keyboard amp for the Stick
Thanks for all the responses. I've been using a bass amp (Ampeg V4b) and a guitar amp (Roland Cube). But been thinking of using a smaller rig for smaller gigs. Guess I gotta start trying out different brands.
