Re: what do you do for a living beside chapman stick
All of my income comes from music, one way or the other: playing double bass, producing and recording, writing, composing, arranging, booking and managing, sound engineering... But I do have an amazing hobby: I train dogs

Re: what do you do for a living beside chapman stick
At the moment I'm focusing on composing and recording for about a dozen media production music library companies, both on exclusive and non-exclusive deals. Up until three years ago I was also a part-time journalist/editor in Scandinavia's leading guitar player magazine as well as a Studio magazine (where I wrote a monthly column on the topic of producing in Logic as well as Ableton Live). I did that musician magazine thing for almost 15 years but following the economic crash in 2008 paper magazines have all gone out of business and that nice side job has become history. I also wrote a book in Swedish that is used in the higher music education institutions. With four reworked issues released, those books brought me a lot of rewarding guest lecturer commissions. Unfortunately, the new economic situation in Sweden has been drastically cutting down the conservatory's budget for guest lecturers, so also that is now history. Cranking out production music tracks seems to be increasing and I would guess I will be staying with it since you earn more the more tracks you pour into the system - and you become better the more you are working. And of course because it is great fun! My media music backend income has already surpassed my other performance compensation income, including sales royalties on early studio musician jobs that luckily sold gold long ago and still stay on air rotation here (generating a tiny cut going my way). Oh, almost forgot... when suddenly blessed with more time, thanks to "the Paper Mag Death", I also picked up street busking with my SG-12 and recorded three CD albums that are decently true to what I sound like on busker's ave, and today downtown hand-to-hand CD sales has come to add a nice income during the hot season.

I was so busy hitting up Vic for a job I forgot to say what I do now!
Last semester of my B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (minors in polymers and chemistry, blah blah blah) . I work in the department at the school engineering prototypes for small businesses. The state matches contributions to help small businesses and start ups get prototypes engineered who couldn't otherwise afford it.

The visuals in this thing are absolutely stunning. I just did my ride (yearly requalification) last month.......they upgraded the software (or something).....dooders, let me tell you....that shit is real, ....the marshaller actually sways back and forth a bit like a real human, you can see the tug in front of the aircraft during pushback, rain reflects on the pavement under the taxi lights and runway lights.....the upgrade is akin to going from the original DOOM to SNIPER GHOST WARRIOR.
Lots of fun going into the sim, as well as humbling....
thx Werkspace for doing what you do.....requires a smart cookie to keep these machines running..
