I can vouch for the solidity of the NS stand: I use it all the time with an NS upright bass and it has been completely reliable.
It's on the heavy side, but in a good way

Perhaps, as the NS-Stick is already a collaboration between Emmett and Ned, the Stick could have the standard NS mount installed to use with all NS features (Pins, Tripods, Straps ===> Look here) and SEI could also modify its belt-hook to be usable on this NS mount ? Before this feature exists, I built my own Cymbal stand :

This is very similar to the way the NS stand would hold the Stick, except that I want to do away with the belt hook and have the mount thread right into the Stick. This is the way it hollds the NS upright electric bass and cello. The Stick would be much closer to your body this way. I like the way you did this, by the way. -Matt |

I know that a lot of you guys go for stick stands when playing, but for me it's a real no-no. It just wouldn't feel right, but I can't seem to put into words why??? |

Personally I like very much the way the Stick is in relationship to the body with the belt hook, it feels very ergonomic. I see the point of the stand though, and it probably would be a very easy option to implement. Where the belt hook is attached the Stick body is about one inch thick: that should provide enough stability even with a drilled hole, I guess... |

As all flavors are in the nature (does this mean something in English ?  ) that's why I told about standard installed piece on the Stick to mount everything, and easily switch from Belt-hook to stand or pin.

I'll admit that it felt sort of strange at first, but it really helped my playing after I got used to it. In my duet, I play a lot of the high-register parts. My stand is set to make this as effortless as possible. Even with the belt hook and strap set to maximum height, it just never compared to the freedom of "weightless" playing. The biggest reason for the stand, however, is that we play a lot of festivals and fairs where we sell CDs from our booth. When dealing with customers and handling money, all you have to do is walk away from the instrument and take care of business. This would be a huge pain if I had to unstrap the instrument every two minutes or so and start all over again. - Matt |

I think I've hit why it isn't for me though - Imagine going to see Guns n' Roses in their prime, and Slash walks up to a Les Paul on a stand and rips into Sweet Child O Mine. It just ain't Rock n Roll! |

Hi Yanlep, I like your stand. It looks like it works. Does the Stick fit snug and tight in the slot or do you use small screws in the back to keep it stable? Also what tool did you use to make the slot. It seems to me that getting the slot right is the critical factor. If the Stick is loose at all or wobbly it would be less than desireable  .Thanks.  jrj |
