Hi Guys,
I have just acquired a Chapman stick guitar sg12.
Any information out there on chord fingerings?
Thanks Jeff

Go To Stick Entreprises website and search for different tunings for the SG12. All the infos are there.

It likely it will be tuned in some version of inverted 5ths on the bass strings and 4ths on the melody, as mentioned the tuning page on stick.com will list some options and what pitch range each allows, if that makes it easier to determine what yours might already be tuned in (if you didn’t purchase from Stick Enterprises).

Assuming it is 5ths/4ths, concepts from any of the Stick instruction material out there (like Free Hands) will apply, particularly common chord shapes and scale patterns.

Others have answered that. I'll just add that that Stick pictures, and the Stick's number, are always of interest round here. Maybe someone here will turn out to be a former owner (if it's not brand new)? :)

I'd recommend buying The Stick Book and/or Stickology. Both are available at Stick.com, and are good references to have around. Even if the book's tuning isn't a direct match for your instrument and you find you have to shift a couple of frets, you'll find that at the very least the chord shapes (fingerings) are the same, and they can be used anywhere on the board- start on any string, any fret for each half of the instrument.

Bob put up a number of quick simple lesson videos a number of years back that many of us found to be useful while getting off the ground on the instrument. The fret numbers might be different for your instrument from the tuning he's using, so you might need to shift a couple of frets, but the shapes still apply.

Do you know which tuning it is in. Tell me the serial number and I can find out some more info about it for you.
