Post The 6 week Practice Routine.
Hi Folks
I'm heading back to my ship tonight and thinking about the many aspects of my job, well no, not really, just joking, actually I'm focussed on an intense 6 weeks of Stick practice in the hour and a half or so I get for it each day.
I need more material fast, so I'm not going to spend much time on things I can do ,but on the things I cannot do.
I have a few covers I have started on so the mission is to complete them.
Little wing.
Layla, for example.
I've also got the bones of Wrapped around your finger moving along.

I think it was Gene who did the "song a week" thing so there's some powerful inspiration right there. I've also saved Kevs recent youtube clips of "Yesterday" , a fine project to keep me busy with a tune everyone who is alive knows!
My originals are ever evolving so thats another aspect. I'm looking forward to setting these targets and seeing how I go. I also have a slot in a local festival 5 weeks after I get home so basically I have to be ready ,some days a little pressure is good. Stay tuned. :D

Thanks for the good word Bruce. Anyone can do it. Kevin's most recent adventure was a huge inspiration. I sat down and learned the Game of Thrones theme and managed to work that into Blue Bossa - it's a laugh. It all comes together in C minor. :D

I've been reading a lot about Abraham Lincoln these days - he mentioned the one thing a prairie lawyer needs to be successful is DILIGENCE.Based on all your posts and travels, it seems you have that in buckets.

Giving yourself a deadline, IMHO, is the best thing you can do as the world is so chock full of distractions it's hard to get from the car to the curb without finding another problem to fix before it's finally time to play music. Putting yourself in front of a camera or getting on a stage is a great motivator.

No excuses now, just fingers on the board.

So, show em' Cap'n and be sure to keep posting videos. You are our man in the field - an international ambassador for the instrument. At some point, you are going to need a CD or something we can hold on to.

Do you get to practice on your ship, or only when landlocked?

Gene, be sure to check out Abraham Lincoln Laughing, a great book of the jokes and stories that Lincoln thought were funny. http://www.amazon.com/Abe-Lincoln-Laughing-Humorous-Anecdotes/dp/0870498894. Cheers

It's hard to explain puns to kleptomaniacs,
because they always take things literally.
