As far is I know, the Koyabu is marketed as an uncrossed hands instrument, and you can clearly see how the bass/melody relationship differs in this clip.

It's hard to tell by the sound clips but I wonder what the instrument really sound like with no effects? Does the bass have any "bottom" Is the bass warm like it can be on a Stick? With a shorter scale neck are the bass string loose? I know bass guitars with short scale necks tend to have more floppy strings if you get into low B strings. I had a short scale Stanley Clark model Alembic. It was amazing but it was only a 4 string and definitely had a more mid range punch than a low bottom.
