Video playing the SG-12 on a rainy dark evening in Stockholm
Hi Guys,
Here's a video I recorded yesterday. Eventually, it brings many more instruments to the mix, besides the Stick Guitar that I'm starting off the piece with. A cool thing I found is that since the tapped Stick arpeggios have such a distinct treble top, I can completely skip out on hi-hats for the drum parts. In fact I only used sampled framedrums of different sizes for toms and kick (doubled with 909 kick) and a naal for snaredrum. I also played a 5-stringed fretless bass guitar (enters with the sax) but didn't cover that in the video.

I like it too, especially the looks of Wenge. But my Bamboo sounds better for some reason. To me, the Bamboo feels more alive, like if the material gives more sympathetical resonance (like a piano or a harp). The output from the pickup house is higher with the Bamboo, compared to Wenge, even when I swap the two pickup houses. Weird, but the only explanation must be that the Bamboo's vibrations amplifies the tone acoustically/mechanically. Can it really be the material? What do you guys think?

I have no comparison with Bamboo. My 10-String is made of Wenge, and it took quite a long time (about one year!) to sound as aspected. The first months were frustrating, I was not able to make it "sing". Then I found a comment from Greg Howard about Wenge here in this forum, where he was talking about this special behavior. And some months later: boom!
After 2 years of Alto experience (rosewood/stickup) I was planning to order a Wenge SG-12 with the Stickup, but I do not want to play it for one whole year until it sounds well.

Ok, that's highly interesting! Do you happen to remember what Greg "said about Wenge"?

Per, I'm sorry, I was not able to find his comment. But I'm pretty sure that it was in this forum.
