Live album released. My new Stick used on one piece!
I have only had my 12 string Grand Stick since January but I got it just in time for being able to play it on at least one piece on this album! Then I had a major surgery to dig out some cancer and had to put the Stick aside for two months, until now when I am healed again. So the Stick song here is kind of "old stuff" already. Will record more with the Stick, it is really fun because it is such a versatile instrument that can take on many roles in a recording production. A bit of the recordist's Swiss knife IMHO http://perboysenvsfabioanile.bandcamp.com/track/counterpointThe album Unexpected is a live recording of a musical duo improvisation session that took place in Rome on June 5 2009. Fabio Anile plays the Piano and the Synthesizer and Per Boysen plays the Alto Flute and the EWI (Electric Wind Instrument). Both musicians simultaneously play also interactive electronics, particularly utilizing the technique known as Live Looping. Exceptions are two tracks that were recorded later as a studio based long distance collaboration: Counterpoint (4) where Per plays the Chapman Stick and Bird’s View (7) where Per plays the Electric Guitar while Fabio doubles on Shakers, the Cajun and the Thelevi.

Hey Per, I am work an I could just browse through the music very quickly, some of your work made me think of rhythms from South America mixed with soundscapes from the XXIII century, pretty good, I liked it very much... like Moctezuma meets Astroboy kinda concept I was surprised to learn you went through some serious health-related episodes, I truly hope that all of that is behind you and I wish you a full and definitive recovery. Best regards,

Thanks, Wildest. "Moctezuma meets Astroboy" sounds fun to me! Yep, cancer is gone now. I was lucky to notice something was wrong and a new born tumor in the lower intestines could be cut out right on the spot by a surgeon. And that's it. Very fast fix, but long and boring time to heal the big cut (no Stick playing since the belt hook was spot on the scar area). I'll have a second, minor, surgery to clean up stuff in January and by then I should be put back into default mode

Per,I'm glad your health is getting better and better, with each passing day. I just listened to Counterpoint, love the composition and the clearness of the mix. This would be a perfect soundtrack for a character in a movie, who has something weighing heavily on their mind, and trying to get through it. I really enjoyed listening to it. All the best to you,and keep the music flowing!!!

Hi Per,
It's good to hear that you are doing better. I've had your album on my mp3-player for several weeks now, and I'm enjoying it immensely. Beautiful playing! I'm looking forward to hearing more from you!
All the best, Johannes
