Post Emmett coming this Saturday for a Zoom Visit
Emmett Chapman will be our guest this Saturday on Zoom. We are looking forward to this very special visit. This is an open forum for anyone to participate and have questions if they like or just listen in.

The meetings are every Saturday 9:00am to around 10:00am Pacific Standard Time (San Francisco)

1. Go to this link to Join Zoom Meeting
https://us02web.zoom.us/j/88959268252
Meeting ID is 773908 (I am not sure if you need this)

The link is also on stickmusic.com. You will be in a waiting room and allowed in, hopefully in less than a minute.

If there are any questions please feel free to contact me at bob@stickmusic.com or post here as I will check back.

Hope to see you there,

Bob

Oh! That’s 3am in the morning for some of us folk!

Any chance you could click the record button in Zoom, so we can enjoy this session later?

Cheers!

What questions do you have for the Creator?

Post Re: Emmett coming this Saturday for a Zoom Visit
First of all: thank you for your great commitment!

Uh, I have a question!

I am the proud owner of a wonderful 10-string and a great Alto and am very happy with both of them! My dream would be something exactly in the middle between the two, as a 12-string version.

I was ready to order an SG12 when I saw the following video: https://youtu.be/8aIX6-0dL3A?t=908 where you presented a Grand Stick shortened by 2 frets („a kind of a Medium Size Stick“). That was a quite similar idea what I had, a „kind of a Tenor Stick“ With a scale length of approx. 30", that would be a Grand Stick shortened by 3 frets, if I'm not mistaken (1 fret shorter than the "Culbertson model").

I emailed Emmett a week ago with this idea but got no response (I know it's only been a few days). I don't know if I'll make it to your Zoom Meeting tomorrow, so here's my question:

Would it be possible to order such an instrument (like your one, or even 1 fret shorter)? Perhaps with 3 or 4 extra frets in the high range (such as Youenn Landreau's or André Pelat's Grand Sticks)?

Thanks in advance!
I will try to be at the meeting tomorrow.

Thanks for arranging and hosting yesterday, Bob. I was one of the ones "haunting" the session with my camera and mic off but it was fascinating to listen in.

One thing that did intrigue me was Emmett's mention of his mysterious pedal(?) - something to do with a pressure pad? Does anyone have any more info on this?

Coincidentally, as he was talking about it I was working on my own mysterious expression pedal (actually an Arduino-based 3d printed foot-joystick that I've currently got sending MIDI cc values to my HX Stomp.)

Cheers!
Nick

here is the write up .

I wish there was a way to make this with current technology, but Emmett says it would have to be digital.
I wonder if he would share the schematics.

I haven't used these products, I just know that they exist

Rainger FX makes the "igor" which is a pressure-pad expression pedal

I believe the keith mcmillen foot controller responds to pressure (I assume is outputting midi cc)

and
poly effects makes the poly expressive
https://www.polyeffects.com/listing/pol ... r/11437720

these days you are probably looking at abstracting control from the actual functions
