Hi everyone,

For those of you who like the album, and what to here what was happening under all the live processing, here is an unprocessed version for you. Bass and melody are slightly panned, and no eq was added, just a wee bit of mastering compression to make it more listenable.

Available as a single track, listen online for free or download, at Bandcamp.

Enjoy!

Wow, thanks Greg for making this available! I've always loved "Water On The Moon", beautiful example of improvisation and spontaneity yet forming a cohesive whole. One of my favorite discs to play on long car trips. I really appreciate this "Naked" version. Such a distinctive style of playing, and now I can make out what's going on much more clearly. Listening as I type this, such wicked technique, endless flow of musical ideas, plan on dissecting some sections. Seriously geeking out on this, again thanks!

Thanks David, Eric and Brett,

I was hoping for a reaction like that. I really enjoyed listening to it the first time in this state. Lucky I recorded it the way I did.

ADAT.

Track 1 - Bass clean
Track 2 - Melody clean
Tracks 3 and 4 - Bass through effects (stereo)
Tracks 5 and 6 - Melody through effects (stereo)
Tracks 7 and 8 ambient mics

There were only about 30 seconds left on the tape, too (whew!)

Thanks Greg, this is a really cool idea. Your expertise in all these areas - musical creativity, pure technique, tone and effects processing, production skill and teaching ability - add up to something quite invaluable to the Stick community and music world in general.

Thanks, Rob, you're very kind. We miss having you here in Virginia. I haven't been to Fredericksburg since you left!

Yesterday being 'Bandcamp Friday', I decided to expand my collection with some more Stick. I listened to 'Water on the Moon' & happily added it to my shopping cart. Then I noticed this 'Naked' version, described as 'offered for Stick players and the curious as a technique study'.

Intrigued, I listened to 'Naked' too & decided it also deserved a place in the shopping cart on pure entertainment grounds!

Sure, it's rather minimalist in places, but there's plenty of Glass & Reich in my collection already. ;)

This pure 'all the notes & nothing but the notes' version really emphasises what a superb machine for musical expression Emmett provided to the world.

Today I listened through again, making particular note of certain passages (e.g. around 48m where it's especially 'sparse'), afterwards comparing those sections in particular to the 'performance' version. Fascinating. Two independently excellent pieces of music, plus extra entertainment from comparison. :)

Thank you Greg.
