Yesterday being 'Bandcamp Friday', I decided to expand my collection with some more Stick. I listened to 'Water on the Moon' & happily added it to my shopping cart. Then I noticed this 'Naked' version, described as 'offered for Stick players and the curious as a technique study'.

Intrigued, I listened to 'Naked' too & decided it also deserved a place in the shopping cart on pure entertainment grounds!

Sure, it's rather minimalist in places, but there's plenty of Glass & Reich in my collection already.

This pure 'all the notes & nothing but the notes' version really emphasises what a superb machine for musical expression Emmett provided to the world.

Today I listened through again, making particular note of certain passages (e.g. around 48m where it's especially 'sparse'), afterwards comparing those sections in particular to the 'performance' version. Fascinating. Two independently excellent pieces of music, plus extra entertainment from comparison.
