I got my first grand Stick half a year ago and by now it has taken the place as my favorite instrument, although I have to sometimes use other instruments depending on the job. But when I have time at hand and just can't stand another minute without mak... |

Prepare for some great fun, GR has a wonderful built-in signal routing capability! Learn to handle it creatively as soon as possible and you will be rewarded (although "checking out other's presets" can be fun and also educational if you analyze the routing that makes up the sound). Two th... |

I have an old habit of avoiding NI plug-ins (except for Kontakt) so I can't speak of hands-on experience. But from what I've seen of other people's issues, as I have been helping them, this is the strategy I would think gives the least CPU hungry and the most stable setup: - Do not send in any exter... |

integrate some MIDI into that Stick of yours Well, I thought about that and decided not to. I like the physical aspect of Stick playing and want to explore the true Stick sound with use of traditional effects in a non traditional way. As for playing MIDI driven electronic instruments I already own ... |

I had to log in on this poll thread and change my post as I now go by the "No Compression" alternative (when this poll was new I too was new and filed under "just a touch of compression"). The better I learn to play the Stick the more I get to value the dynamic control you have o... |

At today's practice session I tried my old cello bow on the stick. Audio recording here: http://www.box.net/shared/9d0rulm3ue Strings 7 and 12 can be bowed easily. But with my light guage strings the thinnest is way too thin to carry a stable tone when bowed. I will swap light for medium guage next ... |
