From the archives: Stick Amp from Marcelo Prive, Buenos Aires, Argentina
Hello, my name is Marcelo. I saw the Chris Crain Headphone Amp project and built it (I'm an electronic tech). I like the idea a lot, and since I read about this amp and thought about building it, I started to think about hot-rodding this thing. I've built stompboxes and amps for my guitar and the Stick, and I have some other projects like a Stick FET-based preamp. Here are the mods incorported into my Stick Amp: -Real independence for Bass/Melody with separate preamps. -Level compensation for each input. -Different freq response for each input. -Hi treble switch.
With this the amp, the the melody level doesn't change with the bass volume knob and bass level doesn't change with the melody volume knob. The amp tone is more voiced for the Stick. The melody side has an emphasis in the treble area, and the bass side has an emphasis in the hi-mid spectrum. Plus with the Hi-treble switch in the "on" position you have that crystal tone like "with a tweeter". I don't have a website to show the schematic but if you can add it to your site, I'd really like to share this portable amp with other Stickist who can build it. It's not much more difficult than the Chris Amp. A photo and audio sample coming soon. Best regards, Marcelo Prive.
