I'm just dying to know...how fast can you pump out straight eighths?
(I'm inspired to keep going, but I listen to a lot of metal where we're talking 16th notes at 120 BPM+, so I wonder what speeds are attainable!)
Best, ~Nick "Klaus" G.

Best, ~Nick "Klaus" G. I took your challenge and it looks like I can manage 1/16th notes at 160 bpm on the lowest bass string (though I don't know for how long!)

Greg,
That is SUPER AMAZING, and I'm really excited to see that it can, indeed, be done (really the impetus for my question).
Time to hit the woodshed!!!
Best, ~Nick "Klaus" G.

Best, ~Nick "Klaus" G. Hi Nick, The more vertical the fretboard is the easier this is to do. A lower angle makes it much harder to involve the hands and arms.

Re: Straight Eighths vs. Two-Handed Bass
That's really good advice, Greg, especially given the nuances of stick technique that you've shared!
I'm wondering if now is the time to switch away from the NS/Stick and back to a more "traditional" stick.
Don't get me wrong, I love the NS, but it sits far more horizontally on my already awkwardly shaped body. I may have to seriously consider a Stick Bass again...
Best, ~Nick "Klaus" G.
P.S. This thread has been very helpful thus far! Thanks everyone!
