New song and live looping + noise experiment
Hello all, A new loop-based song I've been working on for the past 2 months - it's called 'Yol' (means road/path in Turkish). We did this for the Turkish version of the 'Play for Change' project (Doğa İçin Çal - play for nature), which tries to raise awareness on the environment and the few bits of green areas we have left in big cities. The song is recorded live on the spot. It features Ipek Gorgun - a noise artist who not only coordinate loops, but also recorded and processed bits and pieces of the loops to create 'noise' based background soundscaping. Hope you'll like it

Really nice, Akin. I don't call that "noise", though

Re: New song and live looping + noise experiment
Quote: Nicely done! Very atmospheric, and imho sounds like a nice fit for your environmental awareness project. As for your playing, I really enjoyed seeing not only a different string arrangement, but plectrum picking! Ebow! Plain air performance and recording! Thanks for demonstrating some seldom-seen stick techniques. Thank you so much! It was a bit of a risk to do this live open air. Laptop battery and so many external units allowed us about 20 minutes of recording window. With so many loops around, it could have gone bad so easy - missing a single metronome click could wreak havoc! Gladly it worked in a single, first take! Quote: Really nice, Akin. I don't call that "noise", though Noise is a technical term they use; Stockhausen, Lachenmann and so on.. The piece is not a noise piece of course, the effect-like thingies in the background is defined as 'noise soundscaping' by those artists. I'm so out of the whole literature that I say 'OK' to however they define themselves Quote: I really really like this! Nice Work! Quote: Çok güzel! Teşekkür ederim! Thank 'you'. I'm glad you liked this, took a lot of practice!
