October 6th, 1999
Exactly 20 years ago this past Sunday, I took delivery of my first Stick. 10-string #1027 (rosewood) was previously owned by Scott Wedel, sent back to SE, refurbished, and sold to me. The band I was in insisted I start using it immediately (way before I was ready) and some friends who ran an open mic in downtown Detroit insisted I learn some tunes and start playing them in front of people. Everything changed after that and that one decision has lead to so many things, friends, events, etc. My piano and guitar playing even improved considerably because of the Stick. The following July, I hosted my first (and Michigan's second) Stick seminar featuring the teachings of Greg Howard. These became regular events eventually moving to Interlochen in 2009.
It's really mind boggling when I think about how different things might be if I hadn't opted to give the Stick a go. Thank you Emmett, Stick Enterprises, and all the other friends I've made along the way.

A good anniversary to celebrate. And your timeline and story are not too far off from my own, so I can relate. Plus, Scott Wedel...good to read a name from the old Stickwire days.
Glad to have finally met you after 20 years of online communications. Congrats and all the best!
