I Think I'm getting better
i m happy to report I had a recital yesterday. I teach at a private music school and they had their adult recital last night so I played a couple tunes. Fragile and And I Love Her . Compared to last year things went much better. No major screw ups and when I blanked out for one chord I just kept going. Don't think anyone but me knew. It's been two years ago next week I got my stick so I'm happy with the results so far. My nerves were much less and hardly any rigorous mortis while playing. I also have a gig this coming Saturday ( won't be much but that's ok) that I'm getting paid for to play Fragile with a sax player vocals and drums and an arrangement of mine of Scarbourough Fair with string quartet sax drums bass and me on stick. Haven't heard the arrangement yet. Will hear it on Saturday at dress rehearsal. Having a stick sure opens up opportunities I have to say.

Re: I Think I'm getting better
Great to hear Rob! Play with confidence and enjoy yourself - great to hear things are coming together in the performance arena. I have a 3 hour show this Friday and I have been working through older tunes, making sure I'm comfortable with them, and thanks to David Tipton, finally adding Imagine and Leaving on a Jet plane.
Be sure to get some video and share with us.

Re: I Think I'm getting better
You guys are amazing as always. I love this community and have since I was a stalker on the site before ordering my railboard. I look forward to many projects in the future including an album but Ive got 15 jazz tentet (2 trumpets, 2 bones, alto tenor and bari saxes with rhythm section) charts to write in the next month . Ill be happy to be done so I can focus more on stick. Id almost rather play stick now than my trumpet Ive been playing for 40 years. ( I wont give it up)
Anyways thank you all for your kind words and support.
Rob

Re: I Think I'm getting better
That's way cool Rob, playing in front of people was a big hurdle for me. Once you do it becomes easier with each gig. Really happy you are doing live stuff, good on ya!
