Lampi soul refresher
Everyone once in a while I feel the need to go back and watch this video. I know its made the rounds before but Jim's whole vibe and style is something I generally find under represented. He's quite literally one with the instrument, his voice, and the tune.
One of the things Kevin Keith pointed out about his approach to Stick is trying to make it sound like a band. If you only listen to this video, it is easy to imagine this performance as a 3 or 4 piece band instead of one man with a drum track. This is a departure from the concept of sounding like a solo instrument and it works.

Yes! Watching Jim play that song at one of the Stick seminars here in Germany was a memorable experience.
I think there's a whole thread dedicated to Jim here on Stickist.com. This sound has been discussed there if I remember well. He used an old Digitech BP-80 I think.

Super cool! I dig his style a lot! Man, everybody doing something different and expressing themselves on the Stick. Thanks for sharing this! Now I'll have to check out the Lampi thread. Cheers!
