Re: Gizmotron for Chapman Stick?
Yeap, I've seen it before. But, because I was using already an Ebow, I just let it go. The advantage with this one is that you can play more than one string at a time. I would like to see the Ebow technique for 6 strings...lol.

Re: Gizmotron for Chapman Stick?
Looks to mount to the body behind the bridge on the guitars.
Since the stick doesn't have any Body to attach this to below the bridge, I wonder how it would work? Maybe on an NS Stick?
Seems cool....but mechanically I don't see it from the video. For a 6 string guitar, it would be cool, but if it's spaced for a guitar, it wouldn't fit on the 6 strings say on a Grand Stick because the strings are closer together.
I may be totally off base here, so if anyone knows anything the video doesn't show...I'd be interested in hearing it

In my original post I put the link to the website where you can find other videos like the installation one (where you can see adjustable space between strings) :

Re: Gizmotron for Chapman Stick?
Wouldn't a Sustainic or a Fernandez sustainer system work better and be less gadgety? It'd be like having an E-Bow under every string. Fender just put out a Strat with that feature built-in. It has an auto mode you dial it in a little or a lot and it has an overtone switch. I got a sneaking suspicion it'd work great on Stick.
Great Gizmo! I've been wanting such a mechanical bowing wheel device for years but need my right hand to play the frets, not those keys. Then I thot of some kind of a wheel ring around my right pinky, almost bottleneck style, but never worked it out.
How to make the Stick melody sing, and without rock style compression with distortion and feedback? Paul Vo does it with complex electronics on a Vo Guitar and I think he now makes retrofits for guitarists.
Once the string is singing, Vo has exquisite control over harmonic content - his dream of a most versatile acoustic guitar "synthesizer"!
Can't lose the right hand tho, not even for such a special sustained effect. What to do? Well, The Stick and its light two-handed tapping method already give long sustain just naturally. Still, it's not that singing voice.

Ahhh...i see now the adjustability... but still... what would it attach too? There's no "behind the bridge" for the mount.
And Emmett has a good point... you lose a hand to activate the device.
Emmett...maybe an option on the stick would be to to put a fernandes sustainer or something like that where the midi would be for those of us not running midi?
Totally talking out of ignorance here... so if its a dumb idea...i fully understand.

Randolph's tone is like a dream. Thanks for sharing this.
I saw this at the last namm. It was invented years ago but it's coming back.
It doesn't quite work for two handed tapping since you have to push down on the lever to apply the rotating rubber bow thingy...
I think a sustainiac would be great and I'd love to have one on each side of the NS... I've considered doing it for my melody side...
I know Fransisco Rafart has a video showing his prototype of a sustainiac like contraption on his stick.
I use compression, distortion and feedback simulators to achieve sustain but it's mostly just very distortion lead sounds. I'd love to have a clean infinite sustain like a bow without a bow...
