Post Stick in Singapore
Hi Guys
Had to go back to work, but the good news is the ship is in Singapore for at least a few weeks in a shipyard, which I actually prefer to being at sea these days. Hit the facebook network day 1 and via people in Australia and 1 guy in Singapore I know who is a muso, various options popped up. So last night I find myself at the Barber Shop Jazz & Blues Club. Lovely spot down by Marina bay where the old colonial parliament buildings have been restored and turned in to an arts precinct.
Lots of people, various band jams with local guys for about 40mins first up. Next is the Alto Stick. Cutting a long story short I did three which filled up nearly fifteen minutes, great PA , cranking foldback. Coming off they say you must come back & I mention I'll do Layla next time, oops , get back on the stage they say, we need to see that on a stick. So that was a good finish I need more like that, and it includes the piano outro theme which spun a few of them out.
Anyway a fun night , sat round , met lots of people in the local music scene. One of the hosts actually had a stick for a short some years back but gave up. Lots of the usual WTF comments after I finished since many had never seen one.
In the final analysis I was happy , but still make a few errors, I dont think anyone notices but of course I do , just need to keep pushing on and getting better. Picture of Layla going down attached. back in the chaos of the shipyard ( eek ! ) but I'll be out playing again soon.
