Re: Pelican's Yard
So who is he? Embarrassing, I should know this Stick artist and whatever other instruments he plays. What a sense of harmony and rhythm! And he aims high. I have Allan's "Sixteen Men of Tain" CD but see nothing about Pelicans. I also have Gary Husbands piano albums, no Pelicans.
Can't find his name. Is he Pelicans Yard? (No such bird in my data base.)
Thanks Kevin, for flooring me with this one. Is his name Jimmy? He knows the board. He hears the board. His music is advanced, especially as he steps into Allen's shoes. (God I'll miss the Worthy one). Pristine Stick tones, and he didn't even have to loop, altho that game is creatively executed too.
Wow, my wah-wah is set to awesome.

He seemed to me really advanced, too... not only in his understanding of harmony but technically as well, and such a natural feel when he plays.
Yeah, I wondered why we haven't seen him before.
Emmett, it must be a real trip to be floored by a guy you didn't even know bought a Stick from you, who learned your technique and employed it on the instrument you created and engineered. Pretty slammin'.
Glad you guys liked this as much as I did.

Re: Pelican's Yard
Yes it is a slammin' sensation, but George Baldwin is the one living the music - all credits to him. I wonder if he ever reads this forum? I'll email him tonight and remind him of this forum.
Thanks also to Steve B. for finding this young Englishman on the Internet. Other videos on his Website include "Chapman Stick Prelude" and "Night Chamber", lending insight into his musical depth and versatility, not to mention that light handed and articulate Stick technique.
He plays just one Stick, a simple 10-string graphite model #2083 built in Dec. 2001 with PASV4 and probably still tuned Classic in medium gauges altho he may have switched to light. He may by now be adept in adjustments, setup and general "tweaking" (a Stickist's good fortune) or he may not have messed with it at all, just trusting in luck over 16 years (can happen).
It is indeed rewarding to witness such a crystal clear Stick arrangement of Allen's utterly unique (and somewhat impenetrable) harmonic and melodic concepts - a touch of the divine.
