Re: stick with tremolo bar
Spent a lot of time when I was first starting out missing my tremolo bar from my guitar. The only thing I couldn't figure out is how you'd work it.

Re: stick with tremolo bar
How about using the "Whammy" pedal? Surely no where near as cool but could get you in the ball park?

Re: stick with tremolo bar
One of Emmett's early prototypes of the Stick had a whammy bar thing--I think on a 9-string. Maybe he'll be along to relay how that went, or maybe someone else knows the story as well. But I do know Emmett took that challenge on at one time in the distant past.

Re: stick with tremolo bar
You could easily work it with your forearm like Hendrix did. You'd need the same arrangement he had with playing a guitar upside down. In other words a left handed whammy bar on the melody side of a right handed Stick. I've thought about it. I've thought even more about putting Pitch changing pedals or levers on individual strings on the high strings on the bass side so I could move the top 3 strings around by exact independent amounts with tunable stops while they were ringing, just like a pedal steel. Ideally they could be activated by long thumb levers (reachable by either thumb) on the back of the neck linked to individual string pulling cams in the bridge.

with a smaller footprint, the Boss PS-6 is useable for that purpose.

Re: stick with tremolo bar
I have a Digitech Whammy DT but it really sounds nothing like a real whammy bar... Plus it's a different tactile experience than a real bar. I also think each string changes pitch at a different rate with a bar.
However, if you are looking to change pitch to a specific interval the Whammy DT is great. On it's own you can easily do one pitch change but with Midi you can change to multiple intervals with a midi pedal like the ones made by Molten Voltage. They have some great peripherals that work with the Whammy DT. I've also been working with a plugin (currently in the unstable list) called mindi for the MOD Duo which sends out midi messages... still working on some details but I currently have it working to scroll through different intervals I like to use.

Re: stick with tremolo bar
Considering that the Stick is an instrument that discourages the use of open strings, a physical tremolo doesnt seem practical to me.....the use of a digital emulator is probably more practical

Re: stick with tremolo bar
Boaz, you know that I love you like a brother but my vote is no.
No tremolo on the Stick. Ever.
