Andy Salvanos "Transform"
Andy Salvanos again recorded a very good album. You can buy it at a good price together with the "Dream Recall". https://andysalvanos.bandcamp.com/album/transform

$10 US = $7.41 AUS. Andy, do you just play Stick all feckin day? I'm 2 tracks in and loving my investment so far!
Good show man, thanks for the wonderful music.

Yep it's good. Very musical. Deceptively complex music. Very relaxing. My new "rush hour in L.A. on the 405 freeway" driving CD. Solo Stick at it's finest.

Listened to one track so far. Great playing, and what a sweet bass tone!

Re: Andy Salvanos "Transform"
Wow, just beautiful! Sounds almost like he is using a capo on the melody(or high strings on the bass side) for all those lush pull-offs.

Re: Andy Salvanos "Transform"
Hi guys,
What can I say - thanks everyone. Glad you're liking the music. Was going to post an "announcement" about this, but to be honest the last 3 months are a blur. Thankfully, you guys beat me to it. Post-Christmas has been kind of crazy too. I had a colonoscopy yesterday and am flying to Tasmania tomorrow for a few festival gigs. That's probably more information than anyone needs about my life. Just a few notes about the album: - CDs will also be available from CD Baby shortly. If you live in the US, this option (with free shipping) is even cheaper than my Bandcamp pricing, I think. Note that the CD and Bandcamp downloads have 17 tracks. All other download/streaming outlets feature the 16-track version. - The Stick was recorded in mono throughout. This is how I've been playing live lately, and I wanted to capture that sound. So there's no separate processing on any of the main bed tracks. Obviously, a few of the pieces have overdubs, and some different delays etc. - No capo, but I have been using a barring technique extensively for years now, hence the open string type sounds. There's a pretty crappy video on YouTube of me playing the piece "Sturefors", if you go and have a look, you'll see what I mean.
Thanks again for listening, happy 2017 to all.
Andy

Re: Andy Salvanos "Transform"
I played imaginary conga to the tracks while listening at work.
Andy grooves like a percussionist.
Why not perform with one?

Re: Andy Salvanos "Transform"
Collaboration is high on my list this year, and would like to work with a conga player. It would definitely open some new doors for me too. In terms my daily playing routine, it would also be a challenge. I enjoy being my own boss, and I'm generally fixated on making a living. But it's definitely something I'm interested in doing from time to time. I recorded Stick parts for a few different projects this year, so I had the chance to work with percussion.
I believe that playing solo Stick has gradually improved my groove and my timing. I was never a metronomically gifted bass player; I was always secretly co-dependent on drummers. On my own, I wasn't great. I could slap, of course, but everyone knows that slapping is the easiest thing to do (you know that, right?). Playing an instrument unaccompanied is a completely different ballgame, and I'm really just starting to feel confident about it.
Cheers, Andy
