Post Quick question
Before I order one just curious if anyone could tell me how close to a classic overdriven guitar sound you can get from it in it's guitar range. Thanks.

The stick plays differently to guitar, thankfully.

I have some really nice overdrive sounds as a result of some boutique pedals I’ve settled on. Plenty of people get satisfying overdrive and distortion sounds on stick.

Perhaps start thinking about what kind of blending you want in your sounds. That might be a more motivating and creative way to think of this. I’m sure you’ve got your own ideas as to what that would be.

Listen to how Greg gets the sound you're talking about in the middle of this tune. https://youtu.be/RCXjEIQANes

Also Giancarlo is prolly the most guitar-like Stickist as he treats it like a guitar+bass and has all the stomp boxes a guitar player would have.

I'm sure there are also many others that can go there.

My question was specific to the ns stick which is why I posted it in the ns subforum

Anything that you can do on a guitar you can do on the NS. I use the "Guitar Intervals" tuning
and switch between clean sounds and sounds with more 'overdrive' omitting the stereo.
Another idea is to use a capo at the fifth fret with pressure on the main six strings. Then
indeed you will have a guitar with two open bass strings. With the capo the string tension seems
a little more firm and the action is even better if that could be possible 8-). I like the ring of
the sound a lot in that configuration. You would need two capos to cover the whole fretboard.

If you want a good idea of the various sounds you can get on an ns I suggest listening to don Schiff’s peering over clouds cd. It’s great in any case ( ignoring for a moment what instrument was being used ) so it will be time well spent.
