WANTED 10 String Stick.
My old #674 is worn out, fretwise, from 42 years of tapping(pounding)....I've ordered a new Railboard, but the wait time is 18 months...so while I'm waiting, ill buy a used one with good high register frets.....classic tuning.

It might take a while to find another Stick.
Have you considered getting your Stick repaired?

Wow... Three years! I hope SE will be able to recruit someone in their team at mid-term to help them.

But I think fret job on very old sticks could be handled by an experimented local luthier, as frets used at that time are common guitar frets (I don't have the timeline of improvements in mind, but I think Rods were introduced on early 90's). You should really consider that IMHO. And vintage sticks like yours are far beyond Railboards soundwise (but again, it's my opinion).

I have shopped around and here are some prices for doing an Ironwood. I had a luthier look at it, and for stainless steel frets, $700, job would be done in 6 months (he's very busy). The guy that de-fretted the Ironwood (I wanted it fretless-stupid) gave me a price, nickel jumbo bass frets (what Emmett used) - $250. Then backed down. He didn't have a fret press wide enough. Another guy, a friend who wanted my Stick, (never), bought a Krappy and immediately installed s.s. frets & new electronics in it, would probably do it for around $250. I'm not sure, but I think he hammered them in. (and wore out a # of files) I'm thinking of Sticking (pun intended) w/ jumbo bass nickels. BTW the guy that wanted my Ironwood got a hold of a used Stick and NS/Stick back-to-back here in Jersey, so I'm not worried he would abscond w/ my prized possession. Shop around, find someone that does great work and Pay The Man.

I don't plan on selling my instruments. I'm currently working on a Les Paul guitar. Trying to get that 1958 sound with Jimmy Page push/pull pots and burstbucker pickups.

If it were me, I'd start by purchasing the fretwire, then either attempt the job myself or hire a good Luthier to do the job. I'd start the job with only one fret down near the pickups and see how that went, before proceeding up the neck one by one, until the job was done.

I see a few listings on Reverb. Price not far from new, but at this point you're basically paying a premium for time :P
