Oh, collecting Sticks, now, are you?

Isn't everyone? LOL!

Much as I love my Ironwood #1642, it's heading for 40 years since it passed through Emmett's hands & in the meantime it's had two previous owners who tried to string it in ways that were never intended for a 1985 Stick with a fixed dual truss rod. One tried to string low to high across all 10 strings, the other tried to use heavy gauge DRB, both very different from light gauge classic (or baritone melody, with suitable screws) that it was designed & set up for.

I've done my best to set it (her) up properly, but even though much helped by the wonderful people of Stickist I'm only a beginner with no experience of what 'correct' is, so when the option for a 'never messed about' Stick with adjustable truss rod[1], adjustable bridge, flaps, Rails and a PASV-4 block came along I worked out what it was worth to me (my Grand Railboard is still likely to be many months away) made an offer to Walter, & he accepted.

I now need to decide if I can justify keeping #1642? Ideally she should visit California for a refurb, but at current shipping rates the two way trip across the Atlantic alone would be a pretty mind boggling cost, plus Grace has plenty on her plate at present. #1642 is certainly playable, & maybe from experience with #5862 I can learn ways to make her more so? If there was a new UK based potential Stick player in need of an instrument while they waited for an order, i.e. in the same situation I was in last December, I'd probably feel that I ought to offer a sale? Time will tell...

[1] #5862 has the single nut rear adjustable truss rod rather than the later Divided Truss Rod, even though it's a 2013 model. I guess the Graphite beams weren't designed for the DTR?
