For what it's worth, where I previously lived I met a lot of Stick owners not on this board. I've seen a few old Sticks in worse shape being friends with Stickist Steve Osburn/Oz's Music. Was always a treat to see what would come through his store for consignment over the years. There are a lot of original owners who never bothered to learn how to play, nor have the knowledge most of us on this forum have.
Very good points all around.
Yes...numerous Stick "owners"/players out there who rarely if ever make connections to those of us Stick players in the online community.
I once hosted a Stick seminar in West Texas (2001 - Abilene). My only advertising was on Stickwire (the predecessor to this forum) and SE offered to mail out post card info from their private mailing list. Of the 9 attendees, only one was from Stickwire. All others registered from the post card they received. I was amazed...who were these people?
Of course, more people are online in 2022 than 2001. But those unknown Stick players/owners out there are numerous.
**And BTW...I'd LOVE to be within driving distance to Oz's store! Just the items he brought to the Interlochen seminar in 2019 were amazing: Patch of Shades pedal, a couple of older Sticks, a Grid Stick, and some kind of MIDI interface device for the Grid (I'd never heard of this last one).
