Axon ax 100 versus Gr 55
I ordered a midi pick up with my railboard. I saw in a store a used axon ax 100 for 250 Canadian. Versus a used Gr55 for 750. Canadian. I'd like to use the midi to run my synths and virtual instruments. Question is which is a better unit to go with assuming I'm using it as a converter to run my other midi stuff? I'm not sure if the 250 is a deal or because it's obsolete if I should just get the Gr55. Anyone have any experience using both? I think I saw on a thread the axon was pretty good.
As always thanks for your help.

Try PMing Carbon: he had one for sale almost exactly six months ago.

My advice is to go to one of the two Long & McQuade Music stores in Guelph and try the equipment before you buy it. They will usually set you up in a quiet room for testing equipment prior to purchase. I've done this many times. Try before you Buy is my preferred method of purchase. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vUz4NAEIRAJzzb8ovn wrote: I ordered a midi pick up with my railboard. Re: Axon ax 100 versus Gr 55
I'm a 13 - pin freak. I have, or had almost all VG, VB, GR, GI and AX. I regret that Axon fell out of the market. I still have AX50, but buy GR55, which I have two. Why GR is better? It's fastery by USB. It has more and better sound. You can use it as an audio interface and multiprocessor. You can add a great simulation of guitar or bass. It has a looper and an audio player. It is smaller. It can operate independently by foots. Still it has the support of the manufacturer etc.

Thanks to all who responded. I don't want to pay 250 for something that can't do what something else can do better.

http://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/ has some excellent patches. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m0pT3xXwQ-IJayesskerr wrote: Yeah, I actually hate the guitar tones on the GR55 for guitar, but it sounds fantastic on Stick. I played for almost 9 hours today, just getting my clean tones together... It's so much more fun to play when you get "inspired" by tones...

Can you make a video of your GR-55 played with your Railboard? Jayesskerr wrote: I give Roland/Boss 'cosm modelling' a fail on guitar stuff, but a definite pass for Stick.
