First I apologize, because there are probably posts related to this. I purchased my cable through stick enterprises and though it hasn't seen much gigging its already failing. Id like to get some input on what people find are the best built stereo cables.

I think the SE type of cable is the best, in a practical sense; you only have one cable to care fore which makes it easier to pack and travel and easier to move around on stage without falling over cables. For backup I use to bring a little dual mono to stereo 1/4" plug converter so I will always be able to use two ordinary guitar cables if the SE cable should go belly-up on me.

I would agree wholeheartedly with Per on this topic. At the So Cal Stick workshop, Tom G. gave us a good 30 minutes on why we want to stick with Mogami cables whenever possible.

Apparently, these cables are made to the specifications of SE (o rly!), so you are guaranteed the best best possible quality with a minimum of cross talk.

I keep a spare cable in each case I have, just in case!

In my experience, TRS/Dual TS cables are inherently frail. My Stick cable graveyard includes 2 Planet Waves (sorry Jeff - generally a terrible cable according to several guitarist friends), an SE issue (CBI ?) cable, several HOSAs, a custom Gepco (most expensive of the lot), and a few cheapies. A dozen or so in total...I admit that I drag my stuff out on the street and step on things regularly, but I used to be pretty rough on standard guitar cables too , with nowhere near the same rate of breakage.

Since I ditched the dual mono approach, I've had much better luck with a TRS/TRS cable running into a preamp that splits the signal (currently a SFX SP2, previously a D-Tar Solstice). Still carry a dual mono cable for backup and other applications. It pays to have options.

Your cable has a warranty, you should contact SE about returning it if it fails.
