Post Fishman Soloamp low note buzz
AArgh. My fishman is now buzzing badly on certain notes. there sees to be sympathetic vibrations within the frame which are set off by certain low notes.

I used to have a different fishman amp that also sounded great and did the same thing.

I've tried tightening the screws to no avail. any suggestions?

I thought I found the solution to my rig, but I can't live with the annoying buzz.

Brett

Brett,

Fishman is based a couple of hours away from you in Andover, Mass. Give them a shout about the buzzing issue; they are prompt in their replies, and out-of-warranty repairs are decently priced (they quoted a $50.00 flat-rate price for replacing the amp-head on my Loudbox when the DI port had gone south).

Take care,

Paul

I dont put the bass side through the fishman. And the sympathetic buzz isn't even on the lowest string, on the melody side.

Hi Brett - finding those kind of vibrations is quite time consuming. I don't own the amp but I've taken apart much of my equipment over the years. Here's a link to a guy who has the amp and knows it well internally. His vibrations (which he fixed) may not be the same as yours but he's quite thorough in his repair (with lots of pics). He might be good to contact.

I contacted Fishman great customer service. They gave me ideas on how to fix her, and if that doesn't work I can send her in for repair.

Hi Brett.
I have the same issue with my soloamp. Was going to tell you to tighten the screws but you,ve already taken care of that I see. Are you positive it is coming from the amp and not your stand? I did find the retaining ring for the vertical adjustment pin sometimes vibrates in sympathy ( to my playing.........pun intended). :o

I once had a funny buzz in one of my Bag End cabs. It turned out to be one of the wires that connected the speaker to the crossover. It had come "un-taped" from the wall of the cabinet and was vibrating against the back of re speaker cone. Least expensive repair I ever had to make!

I played a gig Sunday night, the buzz was so strong it really affected my playing in a bad way. Like an electric shock coming from all F notes. I might be dumping the fishman.

In a pinch, you can use the anti-feedback knob to notch out the trouble frequency... play the note repeatedly while slowly turning the knob, see if it eventually catches the problem.
