Anyone using Alesis Io-Dock with an i-Pad?
Seen that the Alesis Io Dock has stereo inputs. Anyone using this with their I-Pad & Stick?
Curious to know if it's noisy at all, or pretty clean to use as an effects box to play through an amp.

I got one and then returned it. It is very quiet and sounds great, that's not the problem. The IO Dock has two inputs but there aren't any apps that can use both channels. Only GarageBand can see and use the second channel, but even it can't use both channels simultaneously. I was hoping that this would be a great unit for the Stick and it still might be some day. For now, it's not ready. If I had that clone of myself I would write the app myself. Rob Martino and I could probably write a killer app for it.
If you were planning on using an IO Dock for bass or guitar, then it really is a great unit with a lot of potential. I'm going to keep pestering the effects app authors to add multi-channel functionality. I'll let everyone know when something comes out.

-Eric I seriously need to go back to school and learn how to program apps - I'd be making some serious cash right now. Not just Stick players, look at some of the fantastic instruments Godin and other acoustic guitar luthiers are putting out - multichannel outputs, not to mention what Rickenbacker has had for years. The dual-channel input market is there. Thanks, you confirmed what I expected. I'm thinking stompboxes are going to go the way of the dinosaurs shortly. I have Logic Studio Pro having bought my first ever Mac this year. Totally amazed by how well it all works. My TC Electronics pedal hardly gets used at home anymore. Hearing Bergerbrain's Mac setup in Australia last year was a real wakeup call to me as to what can be done with a computer. Even Bob Culbertson was impressed with it.

Actually I believe Multi-track Daw can handle two seperate inputs at the same time. I was looking for apps that could and that was it. Problem was they don't have a lot of effects like reverb, delay, chorus...only compression....well at least up until their latest upgrade. I haven't had a chance to check it it out though...
I would REALLY like to see Aurora accept two inputs and have parallel processing capability like Guitar Rig.....not for anything fancy. Touch of verb, delay, compression and chorus/phaser maybe..

People are hopeful but the iPads just don't have the horsepower yet to handle vst or au plugins. Maybe with iPad 3...???... There are some good basic DAWs for iPad like Meteor that have effects. But their ability to handle/process two seperate live inputs just isn't there yet. Apps are getting better though. Moog just introduced Animoog which is really cool! And it's only $0.99 till the end of the month I believe.

Re: Anyone using Alesis Io-Dock with an i-Pad?
There is an app called Stompbox that is designed as an effects processor for the iPad. I contacted the developer shortly after I installed it on my iPad (1st gen.), he agreed that since he designed the app to process stereo output, it could also accept stereo input (2-channel). The next revision of the app allowed for that. I haven't had a 2-channel input for my iPad, so I haven't been able to test it. The sounds I was able to coax from one channel sounded good for electric guitar. I suspect it would work well for the Stick. http://www.4pockets.com/iPad/stompbox.phpTake care, Paul

Doh!
Stompbox is the app I meant, not Aurora. Both are by the same company. (Aurora is pretty cool though)
