Post Stick into breadboard
Ola, so I was just wondering if ya'll had any advice for getting both sides of the stick going into the breadboard? I am thinking there might be a more ideal or better way than I am doing. I am summing it into mono with those little adaptors which is pretty weak I know, and the volume/impedance must be off the mark. This is not good for prototyping pedal ideas as you can imagine. I may have posted something like this before, sorry I I did. Treat me like a child here, I don't know much and I like pictures haha! Of course links are appreciated too. Thx

I just ordered a micro mix from the same english guy who makes the SP2 (a preamp for stick some of us on this board are using) : http://www.sfxsound.co.uk/mainpage.asp?page=splitmix
I too recommend to have a look at the SP2, because it has two outputs, one stereo and the other that sums the two signals coming from the Stick (moreover, you can use them at the same time) ;)

I guess I should use some kind of preamp first huh? And to be clear I am going to run both stick sides into the one effect. I wonder if their is a super basic old school preamp that I could add at the beginning of the board. I don't need high fidelity at all, even a crazy toy mic preamp might do the trick. Their is just so much info on the net that I need to sort it out.

Here's a little preamp kit with up to 40 dB of gain that might do the trick for you. It's cheap at $11.95 and that includes a printed circuit board.

The simplest and cheapest preamp I know of is the famous Tillman circuit:

It is really easy to make if you are at all handy with a soldering iron. It can be made extremely small and can even be put into a cable end that's powered by phantom power:

This circuit sounds great with the Stick, I still use it every day even though I've made fancier preamps.

Grozoeil - can you please post a review of the SP2 when you get it? I'm interested in one of those for a Stickup equipped instrument.

Amazing, you guys are a great resource. This is what I was looking for! I get overwhelmed on other forums sometimes ya know. So I need that splitter and then that circuit board preamp. Should be the solution. That cable preamp is uber sick too though, but as I am trying to learn hands on I think builing that preamp curcuit would be suit me best. Fyi, Im using this with stickup.

Hails!

I am also interested in reading your review. The price tag is kind of high for the SP2 so I am wondering If the sfx-mix would be more cost effective. I am in the US. Does anyone have past experience purchasing from this UK company?
