Roland GK-3A on a ten string
When using a Roland midi pickup on the stick, what kind of cable do you need to hook it up? Also, can you hook it up to a microkorg synth?

Re: Roland GK-3A on a ten string
You will need the Roland (or equivalent) 13-pin cable to connect the GK 3 to a compatible Roland synth. To control the MicroKorg you will need an additional midi cable running from the Roland synth to the Korg.
Hope this helps!
Eric

What about hooking it up to a personal mixer instead of an interface? Will that work? And btw if it makes any difference it's actually a roland gk-2a. can you tell i'm new to midi? haha

Re: Roland GK-3A on a ten string
Actually the GK2 will connect via the 13 pin cable to either a GR series synth (only certain ones will output midi from the strings), VG-99/VB-99 processor or to a GI series Roland guitar-to-midi interface (GI-10 or GI-20). Or, what some people have found to be better are the Axon convertors, but they are out of business now I believe Then you can connect from any of those to your MicroKorg synth.
As for the mixer - do you mean connecting the GK to it or the Stick? You can build a breakout box for the pickup if you want all 5 of it's (assuming you have a Stick Ent. GK pickup for one side of the 10-string, then 6 if not) pickups going to seperate channels. Connecting the Stick audio directly to mixer channels can probably be done, but because of the relatively low input impedance the sound will suffer...better to get either a simple preamp like a Presonus Blue Tube or one of the Stick preamps (old - SP-13, newer is the Step About) before going into the mixer.....
