I use both a manual wah and an auto wah, depending on what i'm playing. both on the melody side.

I use a Budda wah on the melody side and when I switch to hi gain on my Boogie it affects the bass side too. I have three wahs ,a Crybaby ,a Hiwatt ,that has a variable eq range(excellent for both bass and melody) and the Budda ,which is my favorite.

I recently picked up a Patch of Shades,#027 that does not work ,however I am going to get it repaired soon.

Auto-wha on melody side. Meticulously adjusted to match variations in note attack strength.

I like manual wha too - for poly rhythmic filtering related the strummed rhythm. But this makes more sense to me on guitar then on Stick because with the Stick I find it more fun to do poly rhythm as a relation between the two fretboard sides/hands. So I keep the manual wha out of my Stick playing. My brain just can't handle more than two poly rhythm frontiers at the same time.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that the classic Vox wah pedal works pretty well with bass as well as guitars. Recommended to me by a local bassplayer. I've run both sides of my Stick through it, does a nice job. It's one of the cheapest on the market and sounds really clean, and pretty well built. Try it out, you might have some cash leftover for another item

Aww, come on, Per! I've known organists who could play seperate parts/manuals with their left and right hands, play pedals, and carry on a conversation with you while they were practicing! :o

Just kidding, heck, I can't even do poly rhythms yet. ;)

As far as a wah goes, I've played around with one of the built-in Wahs on my Line 6 X3L, which I think is modeled from a Vetta Wah. Though I admittedly don't use it very well yet.

Yeah...but organists are a strange bunch. One of my band directors in college could read orchestral scores on piano and organ. Transposing all the parts...makes my head spin.
