Post Cabinet/Encloser Speakers and Such ( Bag End? )
I'm in the process of looking at building my next amp project
and would like some opinions
My guitar background has always been tube tube and more tubes
It seems most players here are using solid state stuff ( have to ask why? )
I think both Glen and Greg like the Bag End products and was curios what you were using and why you like them ( I'm sure a big part of it is weight )

I'm not looking for a full backline but small club size
What speakers and Why you like them

Thanks for your 2 cents

Tom

Greg uses Bag Ends. I use a pair of SWR "Son of Bertha" cabs.

I like the sound of the Bag Ends and if I were buying I'd probably seriously consider them. There are a couple of things to keep in mind though. They make versions of (I believe) all their cabs with and without tweeters. The ones with tweeters have the tweeters concentric (in the center of the woofer). Those are the ones you want. If you're looking at a 15" cab, they make them in two depths. I think they might be discontinuing the deeper model (if they haven't done so already). That one really provides better bass response for the Stick.

If I were buying new I'd probably look seriously at the Bag Ends but I don't like them better than my SWRs enough to consider trading up. I like the SWRs just fine. SWR also makes a "golight 1x15" which is essentially a light version of the "Son of Bertha" weighing in at about 45 pounds instead of 60. Now THAT might make me consider trading up. I get awfully tired of lugging those babies up and down a flight of stairs.

I like both speakers for the same reason. Not too boomy. Nice mix of frequencies. Very clear sounding to me at all manner of volumes.

I use the Bag ends and LOVE them. I have an endorsement deal which saves me some $ but I used them before that. They have 2 different models of 15 enclosures You will need to contact them directly for the larger size, but they are happy to build one for you. I think it would be the
S15LX-D as opposed to the S15X-D. Greg uses 2 of the s15lx-d's I use one of those and a D10BX-D which is the same size but with 2 10s and the coax. I think that this is my fav cab. A bit more punch a little less warmth.

I also have the standard 15 with the coax for smaller gigs and a 1-10 with coax to augment some of those gigs. The s15X-D sounds great as well just not as much bass response as Glenn
said.

I just love the richness of sound you get with these cabs and the stick.

Good luck
Brett

I think Tom Griesgraber is also playing through Bag Ends these days, though I might be mistaken.

I like the way the rear port spreads the body of the sound around, while the coax tweeters are a little smoother than the typical bullet tweeters most people put in full-range bass cabs.

the S15LX-D is deeper, which definitely makes the low end more present (it also makes the cabinet more present in your car!).

Great speakers, and a great company to deal with.
