Post subject:  looking for a small and affordable mixer

Hello guys,

I'm looking for a small mixer for various purposes. Here are the specifications I need :

- portable and affordable (+/-400€ is roughly the maximum)
- 2 or 3 stereo inputs + 2 mic inputs minimum (for gigs, I need to mix my stick signals [stereo on both sides of the instrument] + a drum machine or two mics for the a percussion player + one mic for the voice
- easy to understand ;)
- being able to send the signals to a computer for recording/podcasting/web lessons might be interesting

I eyed the Soundcraft Notepad 12fx, the Allen and Heath ZEDi-10fx but recently, I discovered the Behringer Flow 8 that might have my preference for now, even if I'm a bit reluctant to buy this brand.

Have any of you tried those devices? Any other devices I don't know to look at?

Thanks for your inputs!

When I first started playing Stick, I used this.
https://www.steinberg.net/audio-interfaces/ur44/
It can run from a 12VDC automotive battery.

Not specific recommendations but if you're intereted in checking out trusted brands, the names Zoom https://zoomcorp.com/en/us/ & Tascam https://tascam.com/int/ come readily to mind.

For home studio mixing I'm very happy with my Tascam 12. For portable recording, including acting as a portable Stick practice solution, I'm very happy with my Zoom H4n (which would be too limited for your use).

Several of the Zoom products might fit your spec? I think that Tascam is a bit less likely to be a match for you, but still worth a look?

If you have a ipad already ( big if i know ) i would recommend getting an audio interface that meets all your i/o cabling requirements and hooking it up to the ipad for your cable in/outs and then using the AUM app on the ipad to do all your mixing / routing / and , if you like , effects processing and recording

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/aum-audio-mixer/id1055636344

someone on this board recommend it to me and it's really great. it costs 20 USD, which is a steal for what it does. it doesn't need an especially powerful ipad im using an 4 year old 32GB ipad and it works just fine.

it sounds really complicated perhaps with all the things that it can do . but it's not. it's very easy to use. they did a very good job of keeping the interface simple.

i use a UAD volt4 interface which is great, but you can use anything that is compatible with an ipad. the steinberg interface mentioned in this thread might be a good one, but i'd spring the extra 20 bucks and use AUM instead of the steinberg ipad interface

in addition to the screen interface, you can control AUM in a myriad of ways via a foot controller ( e.g. an irig blueboard if you want to keep the cost down )
