Stick player, Jason Brock from NorthBay, Ontario, Canada
plays on a Tiny BriefCase Amp made by Phil Jones.
It's a very impressive small amp.

Here's a video of why Phil Jones uses 5" drivers to create very powerful amplifiers.

This would be a really fun tool to use with my Strymon Trio.

Very nice! However couldn't you use any of those with your Zoom H4n too - and have the benefit of choosing which channel you applied them to?

Hey David, it's the guitar amp models in the Fender Mustang Micro that I'm interest in. When combined with the Strymon effects, the combination could be something special.

Boaz, your new battery powered amp has a lot more features than I thought that it did.
You can select from over 1000 software amp models to play from.

The system has only one input, but two of these little amps
could be really interesting for a Stick.
Each side with it's own amp model.

Post Re: A pocket practice amp - for Stick.
Hey Boaz,

I received my Fender Mustang Micro last week and I've been testing it off and on. The first thing that I did was to make the proper stereo to mono adapter cable for it. To be perfectly honest, I'm not crazy about this little device. It does work but I have a hard time finding a setup that inspires me to play with it for any length of time. My favorite setup is all green LEDs. 57 Twin with the modulated reverb. The other two green LEDs are for the tuning offsets. I also tried it with my PRS Custom 24 and I'm really not that impressed with it. The YouTube videos were impressive, but on my equipment it sounded mediocre at best.

I much prefer the tones from the Zoom H4N with internal effects. My new favorite is #46 AG Reverb. I've run into a weird problem with it lately whereby the two highest strings will sometimes create some sort of distracting microphonic noise while performing extreme pitch bends. I haven't determined why it does this. I've tried different cables, different output devices, different effects, etc. It only seems to do it when I really get going on a tune and only on the two highest strings while using the H4N.

For the guitar, the Kemper Stage is still the best and for the Stick the Helix floor is the best. I've been experimenting with my amps lately. I have two JC-120 amps, a Fender Twin Reverb and lately I've been testing an old $50 Peavey Musician 400 amp that I rebuilt for $20. That old Peavey amp sure has some potential with the right settings. It has zero floor noise and the clean tones were amazing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8wgBeFKj2c0

Today, I started building a 2 x 12 cabinet for some massive bass drivers that came from an Imax Theatre. These are really heavy 12" Eminence speakers and combined with the Peavey amp, I could be deaf and still be able to play. The sound waves seem to go right thru my body when I play. It's a lot of fun and this old amp seems suited to Stick music.

I use the spark 40 as bass amp (using a stick) and the spark mini as melody amp. The possibilities are countless!! Huge fun! The deep frequencies are surprisingly good. But I think the spark mini is a bit too small as bass amp, but it works fine for practice…

Alternativelly I am using a Fender Mustang GTX50 as melody amp. But this one is less portable (another topic…)

This is my latest setup for the Fender Mustang Micro.

I use all green LEDs for my setup. '57 Twin / Mod Reverb.
- It has a 10 amp battery pack for extended play time.
- (2014) Westone UM1 Team Edition Corsa IEMs.
- Custom made Mono (F) - Stereo (M) cable.
