That's as I suspected when you said you'd raised the bridge end. I think your call on the situation is perfectly reasonable.

If you do add a bit, I guess you can make a pretty neat slice with that foam?

Your scoop for the belt hook looked very even.

Oh yeah - unlike the soft polyurethane foam, this stuff is very firm and really easy to work with. That scoop was just free-handed, sawing slightly with the utility knife.

Okay - one little tweak.

I noticed that the way I did this, the headstock is actually resting on the tuners. Probably not something to worry about, but I was thinking while unlikely that there could be a chance that it could get knocked out of tune. So...I cut a little wedge-shaped block out of some scrap and fastened it so that it supports the headstock between the two outside tuners. As per @DavidWS's question, I also put a small block in the center support so the entire length is supported. Again, I don't think this was going to cause a problem, but since it took me all of 10 minutes to do this (if that) I figured "why not?"

I agree with the 'electric knife' for cutting foam. I bought one at a garage sale for a couple of dollars and use it for cutting Rockwool insulation.

And...I have to say that having all that leftover foam has not been a problem. I've already used some to make a base to lift the FRFR speaker I use off the floor. Much neater than the cardboard box I was using! I placed the Roland HandSonic drum pad on top of that speaker, and the cardboard box put it a little too high. A "frame" made of that foam was the perfect height and still seems to prevent too much "boominess" from the speaker.
