On either side of the middle trough, there is a groove/channel and those are spaced so that the adjacent guitar strings to the one your are playing fit in there and automatically put the device in the "sweet spot" to get the right tone. It was my experience that the string spacing on Grand Stick made those grooves useless and you had to eyeball the sweet spot and, of course, use your ears. So definitely trickier although I would imagine that, as with anything else, a little practice would go a long way. I have one of the latest models with the three way switch, but years back I modified a second generation Ebow for use on my 4 string bass by sanding the grooves down flat. I later traded that for some CDs from Virginia Splendore as she wanted one to use on her bass. |

I use one, and I find it works well. I prefer to use it over the fretboard and not so close to the pickup. I prefer the flute-like sounds you can get this way. If I use it over the pickup, the sound is too harsh for me - and too loud, I have to use strong compression or a distortion pedal in order to get the level down to normal. |

I think it should be possible to model and 3d print a custom plastic case replacement for Ebow, to adopt it to the custom string spacing. |

Now I recall, that's why I had not written anything on this forum for a couple of years, feeling unwelcome after the very first comment. Hope finding notification silencer improved your life enough. |
